NORTHPORT — Jazz lovers in the Midcoast are invited to a free concert of American standards by vocalist Ali Webb when she and fellow musicians bring their swinging style to Bayside Saturday, Aug. 6, at 7:30 p.m. at Bayside Community Hall, 813 Shore Road.

Webb’s singing career began some 40 years ago in Los Angeles, where she was trained in jazz vocals at the Dick Grove School of Music. She is accompanied by Wells Hanley (arranger, improviser, piano); Randall Pharr (acoustic and electric bass); and Brian Caputo (jazz percussionist). Hanley has performed in festivals and clubs in the U.S. and Europe, and is currently on the music faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University. Pharr, also at VCU and the University of Richmond, specializes in American and Latin music. Caputo has been a regular fixture on the Washington D.C. jazz scene for more than 25 years.

All four musicians play and perform in the Virginia/Washington D.C. area. This, their first Maine engagement, is sponsored by Bayside Arts.
