MONTVILLE — Portland’s dreamy soft rock band Wildflower heads up to the Midcoast Saturday, Aug. 13, to play the barn at High Ridge Farm, 117 Choate Road, with local folk favorite Asa Irons. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m.

Made up of five close friends, Wildflower is a melodic soft rock band with a simple and powerful collective warmth. Having honed their sound and deepened their friendship playing up and down the coast of Maine and across the country, every instrument and melody is given space and love. The band’s new album, “The Ocean Rose,” is out now on Los Angeles label Night Bloom Records.

Wildflower is comprised of Mathew Maiello on keyboards, sax and clarinet; Jason Eckerson on bass guitar; Roby Moulton on drums; Alex Winthrop on electric guitar and slide; and Adrian O’Barr on acoustic guitars and vocals.

Irons’ music is hard to pin down, yet maybe Northeast Transcendentalist Folk hints at a reverence to the medium — the poetry of word intertwined with the ease of his guitar or a saw blade. Or maybe, it’s the unabashed feeling he conveys as his daughter commandeers his microphone on stage and as he sings in the basement of the community art center, creating music that haunts you of your own humanity.

There will be cider for sale. No BYOB, no pets. Tickets are $15; purchase online at eventbrite.com (Wildflower with Asa Irons at High Ridge Farm) or cash only at the door.
