BELFAST — Belfast Police responded to an crash involving a Waldo County Sheriff’s Office cruiser Wednesday, July 27, under the Route 1 overpass on Main Street.
Officers responded to the crash minutes after it happened, Belfast Police Officer Rick Smith said. It reported just before 4 p.m.
Deputy Ryan Jackson was driving east on Main Street toward downtown in front of Renys Plaza when he collided with another vehicle turning left onto the Route 1 on-ramp heading south, Smith said. The crash is still under investigation but nobody was injured, despite both vehicles being towed.
Smith said the area was congested with traffic that day and there was a line of cars attempting to make that left-hand turn onto Route 1.
