BELFAST — “Therapeutic Play,” an exhibit of varnished watercolors by Kelly Derosiers, is on display in the Kramer Gallery of the Belfast Free Library, 106 High St., throughout August 2022.

When the pandemic began, Unity artist Kelly Derosiers needed a respite from the anxiety she was feeling. She decided to retreat to her sunny studio and play with colors and shapes, divorced from any intention whatsoever. This exhibit of watercolors is the result of that therapeutic play.

Derosiers, a former teacher of both art and science, explores the connections between the disciplines. She said, “Art and science have much in common, despite their different disciplinary cultures. Both are explorations of what is possible. Both investigate and explain a perspective on the world. Both are necessary for a full humanity. Since my art comes from my own full humanity, I welcome these connections and share them.”

The Kramer Gallery, located on the ground floor, is open during library hours. For more information, visit belfastlibrary.org or call 207-338-3884.
