BELFAST — Two search warrants served at a home on Patterson Hill Road turned up approximately $200,000 in stolen property and drugs and approximately $3,000 in suspected drug proceeds.
According to a press release from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, the search warrants were the result of an eight-month-long investigation into burglaries occurring in Hancock County.
Items recovered in the two searches included power tools, utility trailers, snowmobiles, snowplows, tires, a motor vehicle and approximately 62 grams of suspected methamphetamine, prescription medication and approximately $3,000 in suspected drug proceeds, according to the news release.
As a result of the investigation, Anthony Knight, 56, and Robert Larrabee, 44, both of Belfast, were charged with Class C theft. Both individuals were booked into the Hancock County jail and have since been released on bail, the release said.
Officers with the Ellsworth Police Department, Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and Maine State Police conducted the first search warrant on Aug. 1, and then returned to conduct a second search on Aug. 2, after receiving further information regarding more stolen items at the residence, the release said.
At the time of the press release, items from 15 active burglary cases were recovered, including cases in Waldo, Hancock and Penobscot counties.
The investigation is still ongoing and more details will be provided when they become available.
