It’s summer supper time! Saturday, Aug. 13, will be a turkey takeout supper at the Searsport Methodist Church on Main Street. It will have all the things a turkey supper should have: turkey, mashed potatoes, peas, carrots, corn, rolls, cranberry sauce, and best of all, homemade pies.  Serving starts at 4:30 p.m. and is $10 a dinner. Hope you can make it!

Then on Friday, Aug. 26, at 5 p.m. there will be a Southern Fried Chicken Gospel box supper at the First Congregational Church. Includes fried chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, roll, lemon square and drinks. The supper will be served on outside tables and gospel music will be provided at 5:30 p.m. by several local musicians. Guests are welcome to sing along or just tap their toes to the old-fashioned music. Pre-ordered takeout meals are also available and may be picked up at the Knox Bros. Avenue entrance from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Missions Committee. Suggested donation of $12 per meal. Funds will go to Ukrainian relief, Searsport’s Kindness Program and personal necessities for RSU 20 students. Only 120 meals are available, so please pre-order by calling Nancy at 207-323-1242 or Jayne at 407-694-8733.

Lavender is the Spice of the Month this month, available Friday, Aug. 12, at Carver Memorial Library. Spice Club is a free monthly program to learn more about the historical background of spices and pick up some new uses and recipes.

Crafternoons are now in person on the third Thursday of the month at the picnic table outdoors. If it rains, we’ll try again the following week.  Come share your project work on knitting or mending and meet new friends. Drop in any week.

Tai Chi Five Animals is every Tuesday at 3 p.m. on the library lawn (or upstairs in the Town Office building if it rains). Fun and healthy tai chi for all ages with leader Dean Anderson. Donations welcome.

I will be away next week, so I will write again in two weeks.
