Greetings, Brooks. We finally had some rain!

The Marsh River Cooperative is having an 8th birthday celebration on Thursday, Sept. 1, from 5 to 7 p.m. on the Co-op porch. There will be a kombucha tasting on tap from Aqua-vita Kombucha and a potluck dinner with birthday dessert provided by the Co-op. All are welcome.

In addition, have you noticed the Little Free Library on the porch? It was the idea of board members and Vice President Brenda Moot on the Volunteers and Outreach Committee who helped with the planning. The Little Free Library was built by board and committee member Terry Huber. Brenda is the Little Free Library steward. Stop by and check it out. It’s already been getting lots of use.

A big thank-you to Ashley Petrochenko who delivered a beautiful bouquet of fresh garden flowers to the Town Office last week from her flower farm. Frogmore Farm is located at 66 Monroe Highway in Brooks. She has beautiful gardens and you can pick your own bouquets. They are open on Friday and Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. You can also find them on Facebook.

The Brooks Rec Department is in the planning stage for the Halloween celebration and they could use your help. The next meeting will be held on Monday, Sept. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Office. All are welcome. Last year’s event was a huge success. Please try to attend — your input is valued.

And finally, a little sneak peek. The Varney Ladies Fellowship has been hard at work on the next two quilts to be raffled off later this year! Hint: lighthouse. More information to follow.

Until next time … peace.
