Hello Monroe!

Fall is in the air, at times, and Oliver is thrilled to point out his green pumpkins now starting to turn orange! I’ll admit, I’m looking forward to cooler temperatures.

Worth celebrating

Happy belated birthday to Monroe’s Gavin Milliken and Rick Hillman, both celebrating special days in late August.

And with September now upon us, happy, happy birthday to: Bob Gibbs (3rd), Mario Tribuzio (5th), Barbara Dolloff (14th), Keith Nealley (15th), Rachel Norgang (18th), Nolan Stubbs (20th), Ben Hooper, Michael and Megan Tribuzio (22nd), Jacki Robbins (25th) and Marnee Clements (27th).

Gesner Park social recap

What a fun, generous community Monroe is! It was great to catch up with neighbors not seen in a while.

Around 100 people made their way to Gesner Park for complimentary ice cream last Wednesday evening. Thank you, Stone Fox, for donating the individual cups and The Barn at Rosemoore for donating the box of vanilla, Angela and Lisa at Seek-No-Further for donating bowls and spoons, Alison for bringing yummy toppings and helping serve, and Neva and Garrett for serving as well!

All in all, people left a fantastic $438 in the donation jar for the new park playground! Friends of Gesner Park is the group spearheading the playground effort; join them on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. at Gesner Park for their next meeting.

The Monroe Community Church also did well that evening, serving up delicious pie and raising funds for the church, while generously putting out a tip jar for the playground fund, turning over $131 to the park at the end of the night. Thank you, Bernys and church members, for joining!

Twenty-three kids in Monroe are signed up for youth soccer this fall — stay tuned for the schedule and plan to catch some local action at Gesner Park on Saturday mornings soon. Thank you for signing everyone up, Coach Corey!

Stay tuned for future events planning to be hosted at the park this fall, including soccer games, a harvest festival and trunk-or-treat!
