The high school golf regular season swung in for the five Midcoast squads on Wednesday, Aug. 24, with a mixed bag of results on the links for Oceanside of Rockland, Camden Hills of Rockport, Belfast, Mount View of Thorndike and Medomak Valley of Waldoboro.

The early-season matches continued throughout the following days.

On Aug. 24, the Windjammers earned a home win over Oxford Hills of South Paris, while other area squads were on the road in various tri-matches.

The Mariners and Mustangs hit the road to face host Gardiner as the Tigers went 2-0, Mariners 1-1 and Mustangs 0-2; while the Lions and Waterville traveled to face talented Leavitt of Turner, as the Hornets finished 2-0, the Lions 1-1 and Purple Panthers 0-2.

The Panthers and Cony of Augusta also trekked to Nokomis of Newport for a tri-match as the host Warriors went 2-0, Rams 1-1 and Panthers 0-2.

The action continued on Thursday, Aug. 25 as Camden Hills made it two in a row — this time over Mount Blue of Farmington — while Belfast was edged by Nokomis of Newport.

On Monday, Aug. 29, Belfast, Oceanside and Camden Hills carded wins over Mount View, Morse of Bath and Skowhegan.

The golfer or golfers with the lowest nine-hole scores in each match earn medalist honors. Teams can play with six golfers as the low four scores count toward the team’s nine-hole stroke total. The team with the lowest four-golfer stroke total gains three points and each individual match is worth one point (or half if a match is tied).

Camden Hills 7, Skowhegan 2

At Goose River Golf Course in Rockport Aug. 29, the Windjammers remained unbeaten with a win over the River Hawks. Camden Hills prevailed by a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 198 to 205 for Skowhegan.

The individual results, with Camden Hills golfers listed first, were: Jack Edgar (44) beat Eddie Goff (49), Garrett Hall (52) lost to Silas Tibbetts (50), Owen Berez (51) beat Ollie Barden (55), Walter Field (51) beat Jackson Hight (56), Micah Fagonde (52) beat Zaylan Leblanc (60) and Zanni Sabatini (55) lost to Cooper Stewart (51).

Belfast 9, Mount View 0

At Northport Golf Club April 29, the Lions roared past the Mustangs in early-season action. Belfast finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 172, while Mount View did not have the required four golfers to score as a team.

Belfast golfers were led by James Ritter (39), Caden Nickerson (44), Zach Sanderson (44), K.J. Payson (45), Gary Gale (46), Hagen Chase (48) and Bobby Banks (50), with Ritter medalist.

Garrett Fowler finished at 82 for Mount View, Evan Aspinall 81 and Jonas Holmes 79.

Oceanside 6.5, Morse 2.5

At Rockland Golf Club Aug. 29, the Mariners swung to their second win in three matches, this time over the Shipbuilders of Bath. Oceanside prevailed with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 192 to 205 for Morse.

The individual results, with Oceanside players listed first, were: Noah McLellan (39) beat Caleb Harvey (48), 4+3; Bryson Mattox (46) beat Max Owen (66), 5+3; Rhys Jones (52) beat Oscar Nelson (57), 2+1; Levi Philbrook (55) lost to John Johnston (45), 5+3; Josiah Danforth (59) lost to Tuck Mercer (55), 2+1; and Parker Darge (66) halved with Gage Suittier (61).

Camden Hills 7, Mount Blue 2

At Wilson Lake Golf Club in Wilton Aug. 25, the Windjammers made it two wins in as many days, this time over the Cougars. Camden Hills finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 202 to 212 for Mount Blue.

Nokomis 5, Belfast 4

At Fogg Brook Recreation in Palmyra Aug. 25, the Warriors edged the visiting Lions. Nokomis finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 176 to 178 for Belfast. That result was key because the Warriors gained three valuable match point to win, despite losing four of six matches.

Camden Hills 8, Oxford Hills 1

At Goose River in Rockport Aug. 24, the Windjammers began the campaign with a lopsided win over the Vikings. Camden Hills prevailed with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 204 to 225 for Oxford Hills.

The individual results, with Windjammer golfers listed first, were: Jack Edgar (50) beat Belle Steeves (55), Micah Fagonde (50) beat Dustin Farrington (51), Aidan Aselton (50) beat Garrett Whitlock (69) and Bennett Gardner (62) lost to Miles Whitlock (50). Additionally for Camden Hills, Walter Field shot 54 and Garrett Hall 61.

At Augusta Country Club Aug. 24, the Tigers doubled up the Mariners and prowled to victory. Gardiner finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 177 to 187 for Oceanside.

At Turner Highlands Golf Course Aug. 24, the Lions roared to a win over the Purple Panthers. Belfast prevailed with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 195 to 222 for Waterville.
