BANGOR — Belfast cross-country runners may not have had enough of them to record team scores on Friday, Sept. 2 in a season-opening high school meet hosted by the Bangor Rams, but that did not stop the Lions from enjoying a slew of solid individual performances.

Bangor’s Sadie Harrow finished first among the 48 girls in 20:39.90, while Hampden Academy’s Charlie Collins was first among the 54 boys in 17:07.39.

Will Robbins and Meara McVearry paced the Lions over the 5-kilometer, or 3.1-mile, course.

The girls team scores were: Bangor 17, Hampden Academy 47, Brewer 78 and Belfast, Erskine Academy of South China and Maine Central Insitute of Pittsfield no score.

The boys team scores were: Hampden Academy 20, Bangor 51, Erskine Academy 84 and Belfast, Brewer and Maine Central Institute no score.

The Belfast girls individual results were: 17, Meara McVearry, 24:23.98; 29, Estella Sprague, 27:01.30; and 30, Sydney Marriner, 27:03.95.

The Belfast boys individual results were: 8, Will Robbins, 18:21.60; 23, Alec Rolfe, 20:43.75; and 45, Tristan Hughes, 25:20.67.
