Hello Monroe!

Oliver and Nolan experienced their first fair last week with an afternoon spent at the Windsor Fair. Oliver tells me his favorite parts were the mechanical tractor ride and the biiiiiiig slides! We plan to head to Blue Hill Fair on Labor Day in search of more fun and a Ferris wheel!

Youth soccer schedule

The Monroe Mites (grades 1, 2 and 3) have enough players to form TWO soccer teams in the Inner Waldo County Soccer League this fall! Games will be hosted at Gesner Park along Route 139 in Monroe on Saturday mornings, from 9 to 10 a.m., starting Sept. 10. Lite morning concessions will be for sale.

Even if you don’t have a child or relative in the program, come out and support local youth by cheering them on at the soccer pitch! Picnic tables will be scattered about the field, or bring your own chair. I hope to see you there!

New at the library

Children’s Story Time is coming to Monroe Community Library on select Saturdays! This month, story time will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturdays the 10th and 24th. A guest community member will be reading aloud to children, and library staff will be leading a Make and Take craft activity following the story. The library is open to the public on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Monroe Select Board meets at the Town Hall on Wednesdays, Sept. 14 and 28. Meetings start at 6 p.m. and are open to the public. Current board members are Holly Emerson, Rick Hillman and Joe Isgro.

The Friends of Gesner Park group meets on Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 6 p.m. at Gesner Park on Route 139. In the event of inclement weather, the group will meet upstairs at the Town Hall. All are welcome to attend. Agenda items will include locking in a playground design and fundraising goal and discussing plans for a fall Harvest Festival and Trunk or Treat event at the town park. Bring your enthusiasm and ideas!

Frozen Friday

A reminder that Seek-No-Further Farmstead is hosting another Frozen Friday at the farm on Friday, Sept. 9, from 5 to 7 p.m. Their delicious soft serve in fun, seasonal flavors, is made with fresh, local ingredients. Check them out on Facebook for more details.

Have a great week!
