Hello All,

Another fall week has gone by. We are on another week as the leaves are turning and the temps have changed, especially at night. I dread what will be coming along later. This is Maine and we deal with it here. Fall veggies are being harvested and apples for PYO and to purchase pre-bagged.

Thorndike Days

Coming up Saturday, Sept. 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parade at 10 a.m. Welcome to join in the parade. Chicken Barbecue, vendors, live music and children’s activities, to mention some of the happenings.

Neighbor to Neighbor

The food box applications are available since Sept. 1.  Can pick up at the Knox Town Office. Thanksgiving boxes deadline is Nov. 1, and distributed on Nov. 19. Christmas boxes deadline is Dec.1, and distributed on Dec. 17. Get an application if you need this, or know someone who does.

Also, for Fuel Assistance, call 338-3025, for a phone call appointment.

Fall flowers

I see Unity Flower Shop has mums and other fall plants. Stop by.

Over The Hill Lavender

Still harvesting lavendar and other plants. Pottery gift ideas. Thursday- Sunday, noon-5 p.m. Cute little pottery gnomes.

Farm stands

Doak Farm in Monroe: Pumpkins (big, mini and white), squash, and corn stalks and hay bales to decorate. Open every day.

Curra’s Farmstand in town. Fall hours, open only Saturday and Sunday.

Maine-ly Apples also has fresh cider available as well as PYO apples. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Sympathy

Our condolences to Jesse and Jim Gibbs on the loss of their mom, Mildred Gibbs. Thinking of the family.

Wedding

Congrats to Troy “Tee” and Elizabeth Hustus Oliver on their recent marriage. Thinking of all.

Cheerleaders Car Wash

The Belfast Area High School cheerleaders will be hosting a car wash at VIP Belfast on Sept. 17, 10 am. to noon. Vehicles washed by donation. They will be expecting to see you.

Anniversaries

A happy 24th anniversary to Brent and Kami Moulton! A happy 57th anniversary to Ronnie and Sheila Moody!  They have beautiful hibiscus flowers that Ron and Sheila are growing, that I saw on Facebook. A happy 70th anniversary to Stan and Dottie Wood!

Reminder

Narcan Training and Awareness Session on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 6 p.m. at Snowdusters Clubhouse, Fisher Road, Unity. Demo on using Narcan. Learn how to save a life. IMO, sadly we need this in this county, it is getting worse.

Recent car show

Lin and Karen Doughty with their ’56 Mercury, and Wayne, Laura and family with their ’93 Cobra Mustang attended a Freddie’s Cruise-In Car Show in Vassalboro. It was a nice show, Wayne said.

Congrats

Congrats to Northern Solstice Alpaca Farm for the 18 years of  business in educating and bringing happiness to people with all the alpacas. Free tours are given, Crosby Road, Unity. Stop by sometime to see the 41 alpacas.

Other people own the alpacas, but they stay at the farm. Sounds like lots of fun. They have a farm store, too.

Birthday

A happy birthday to Linda Lord in Brooks.

Lupine Cottage

Lupine Cottage in Belfast has a September sale inspired by Maine Lobster Items. Maybe bring awareness, too, eat more lobsters, folks!

Lost dog of Thorndike

Murphy, a Walker male hound is missing since Aug. 23 from his home in Brookton, Maine, from Forest City Road. He has a collar and ID tags. Call Steve Cole, 448-2908 or 416-3850 if you see him or have any info about him. Good luck!

One time my brother Dwayne lost his hound, and someone told him where to go look as a man near where they had been hunting had a dog hid in his outbuilding. My brother heard the dog barking and immediately got it back.

Remembering

Queen Elizabeth II who passed on Thursday at 96 years old. She has ended her 70 year reign. May she RIP. Now for Charles to take over as king.

Sports

The sports season is in full swing. The Little Youth are so excited for soccer. They look so cute playing. Good luck, kids.

And this.
“A great soul serves everyone all the time. A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.” — Maya Angelou. Loyalty is the best gift, you can give it to someone you love.

Until next time,

Take time for yourself as it is much needed. Breathe, and relax. Be kind, everyone! Get out and pick some nice apples that are now ready. Yum. Veggies are ready as well. Selling in many places now. Hello Lin and friends that read my news.
