Hello Monroe!
Summer sunshine is lingering into September, not ready to give in completely to cooler fall days just yet. Oliver and Nolan are making the most of the sunshine in the garden; Oliver digging for worms and Nolan…just happily digging!
Harvest meal and auction
The Monroe Community Church annual Harvest Supper and Auction are BACK! On Saturday, Sept. 17, the Harvest Supper starts at 4:30 p.m. and the Auction begins at 6 p.m. This event takes place at the church, 28 West Main St.
The meal will be chili (free will donations gratefully accepted) and the auction will be conducted live, as before COVID. Plan to come out and support the church!
Saturday is for soccer
A reminder that each Saturday morning from now through Oct. 8, weather permitting, one of Monroe’s two youth soccer teams will be hosting a soccer game from 9 to 10 a.m. at Gesner Park. Special time note for Sept. 24: the game will be played from 8 to 9 a.m. that date only.
The Monroe Lions concession building will be open with a variety of drinks and food available for purchase, including coffee, locally baked muffins and more. Picnic tables are out and waiting, or bring your own chair and get closer to the sideline soccer action! All proceeds from the concession stand will support Monroe youth athletic teams.
Even if you don’t have a young relative or friend running around on the field, come out and be a supportive member of the Monroe community!
Library event
The Monroe Community Library will host its second Saturday morning read aloud and craft for children on Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. Come see what it’s all about!
A reminder that the library, located in the Monroe Town Hall, is open to the public Monday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Congratulations to Evelyn Herrin of Skowhegan as the Bingo winner of the Bella Books gift certificate. Evelyn was one of many children to complete a reading Bingo card this past summer and be entered for the grand prize drawing.
Have a great week!
