BELFAST — It’s time to vote for the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce businesses, organizations, and individual(s) to be celebrated at this year’s annual Chamber Awards Gala.

The annual event will be held Friday, Nov. 4, at he University of Maine Hutchinson Center in Belfast. Nominees have been selected for consideration; write-in votes are also permitted. Visit the Annual Chamber Awards page at to cast votes. Voting ends Oct. 17.

Business Growth Award: A chamber member business that has successfully expanded, renovated, created an innovative new line, or increased employees in the past year. Nominated are: Ananda Yoga & Wellness, The Back and Forth, The Grasshopper Shop, The Homeport Inn & Tavern, Must Be Nice Lobster, ReVision Energy, Moorings Oceanfront RV Resort and The Scone Goddess.

Hometown Heritage Award: A chamber member business that has been around for more years than we can remember and is a bedrock in the community. They contribute experience, knowledge, and wisdom to other businesses. Nominated are: Allen Insurance & Financial, Belfast Historical Society & Museum, Camden National Bank, Consumers Fuel Co., Hamilton Marine, Liberty Graphics, Mathews Brothers, Rollie’s Bar & Grill.

Health Care Partner Award: This award recognizes an individual or organization outside of the health care profession who through their actions demonstrates a commitment to our shared vision of making our community the healthiest in America. Nominees are: Belfast Parks & Recreation Department, Belfast Rotary Club, Belfast Soup Kitchen, CG Bikes, Come Boating!, Kids Unplugged and Waldo County YMCA.

New Business Award: A new chamber member business that has been around for three years or less and holds the promise of being here for many years to come. The new business may be creative, innovative, unique and/or fills a need in the community. Those nominated: Downshift Coffee, Belfast; Harborside RV Resort, Stockton Springs; Hey Sailor!, Searsport; Mainely Gallery & Studio, Belfast; Rio’s Spiked Café, Searsport; Splendiferous Sweet Shoppe, Searsport; Stone Tree Farm & Cidery, Unity; and Trove, Searsport.

Waldo County Business Award: This award recognizes a chamber member from Waldo County or just somewhere outside greater Belfast, that has demonstrated sound business development, civic involvement, or support for the overall business community. Nominees are: Chase Toys, Unity; Friends of Fort Knox, Prospect; The Hichborn, Stockton Springs; LCI Fiber Optic Network, Lincolnville; Northport Golf Club, Northport; Penobscot Marine Museum, Searsport; and Whale’s Tooth Pub, Lincolnville.

Citizen of the Year: This award recognizes a person who has made an outstanding positive impact in Waldo County, either through a single event or on a continuous basis. Nominees can be from any occupation, including business, education, services, medical, government or a charitable organization, or they can just be a resident. Nominated are: Bob MacGregor, Waldo County Woodshed; Debbie Murphy, Community Volunteer; Erin Herbig, Belfast city manager; Jane Snowdeal, The Kindness Program; Dr. John Gage, retired physician; Mary Mortier, Belfast city councilor; Sue Dupler, Public Health nurse; Wayne Hamilton, Hamilton Marine.
