Greetings, Brooks.

Awaiting the storm and hope it doesn’t strip all the gorgeous foliage. We’ll see.

If you didn’t get the chance last weekend, the “Sweet Delilah Swim Club” will be presented at the Marsh River Theater on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21 and 22, at 7:30 p.m. Get your tickets at the door. This comedy is billed as Golden Girls meets Designing Women meets Steel Magnolias.

The Marsh River Theater is looking for donations of insulated blankets or boxes to store the lighting equipment over the winter. Contact me or Mike Switzer at Ralph’s Cafe.

There is a special town meeting on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the Varney Building relating to selling the approximately 100-acre “town forest,” and then using those proceeds plus money from county and federal ARPA funds for a total of $75,000 to enter into an agreement with Unitel to provide broadband services. The warrant is posted at various locations around town. Please plan to attend.

Mark your calendars: There will be a fundraising tea to benefit the Marsh River Theater on Sunday, Oct. 30. More information to follow next week.

Brooks Trunk or Treat will be held on Sunday, Oct. 30, 4-6 p.m. in the Community Parkz. If the weather does not cooperate, the event will be held at the Town Office lot. Lots of fun activities have been planned and the Brooks Rec Department is still looking for donations of candy — you may drop them off at Ralph’s Cafe.

There will be a community meatloaf dinner on Saturday, Oct. 22, 4-6:30 p.m. at the Varney Building. This is a fundraiser for the first heat pump to be installed in the lower level of the Thrift Store. And it’s a free-will offering featuring homemade meatloaf and all the fixings (including pies for dessert). Please support this effort, as the Masons will be giving a matching-plus donation.

Until next time … peace.
