BELFAST — Music Together at Midcoast Music Academy will open its newest location for Music Together® classes in Belfast. The new class session begins Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Waterfall Arts, 256 High St. Music Together is an internationally recognized early childhood music and movement program for children from birth through grade two.

Midcoast Music Academy Director Jen Feldman said, “We are so pleased to bring Music Together classes back to Belfast after a pandemic hiatus. It’s important to us to be able to meet the need for early childhood music classes, and to extend the joy and learning opportunities of Music Together to a wider community of young children and their families.”

Music Together also introduces its newest instructor, Alyssa Kelly. A Waldo County native, Kelly is an educator, author and singer-songwriter. She has been playing guitar, composing songs, and performing musically since the age of 12; she currently entertains audiences with her Belfast-based band Muskeg. With 20 years of teaching experience serving diverse populations, she is well versed in creating inclusive, innovative learning environments that foster personalized growth. Kelly believes that Music Together is a fabulous invitation for families to encounter the limitless, lasting impact of music’s power – and she is thrilled to contribute to its vision.

“All children can learn to sing in tune, keep a beat, and participate with confidence in the music of our culture, provided that their early environment supports such learning. Music Together brings families together by providing a rich musical environment in the classroom and facilitating family participation in spontaneous musical activity at home within the context of daily life. Families get so much out of these classes,” Feldman said.

Midcoast Music Academy is a community music school founded in 2012. MCMA was fortunate to add Music Together to its repertoire in 2020, with the guidance of long-time Center Director Jessica Day, who introduced Music Together to the Midcoast 13 years ago. In addition to early childhood classes, MCMA offers private and group instruction and community programming through its studios in Rockport.
