Greetings, Brooks. ‘Tis the season (almost), so I wanted to let you know of the times and dates of various events so that you can get them on your calendars.

Nov. 24: The Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held this year beginning at 1 p.m. at the Varney Community Building. This is a great event and I hope you can attend. There is a sign-up sheet if you would like to provide or make something — please contact me. The dinner is free and the public is invited.

Nov. 26: The “Hanging of the Greens” takes place at 1 p.m. (after the Thrift Store closes) at the Brooks Congregational Church and Varney Memorial Building.  All volunteer decorators are welcome.

Nov. 26: The Lighting Ceremony of the Community Christmas tree takes place at 5 p.m. in the parking lot next to the Varney Community Building (there may also be some singing). Dress warmly.

Dec. 3: The Brooks Rec Department is sponsoring “Breakfast with Santa” beginning at 8 a.m. Children of all ages are welcome to enjoy a great breakfast and have a picture taken with Santa. This is another free event.

Dec. 11: The Brooks Congregational Church presents “A Country Christmas Concert” at 3 p.m. It will be followed by a “Soups & Bread” supper at the Varney Memorial Building. The public is invited.

I’ll be sure to post reminders and any further information about these events as the dates are nearer!

Until next time … peace.
