Another week rolled on by, and the weather has changed to much colder. Snow the other day, but just a dusting here. Some hunters are having some luck.

Deer hunters

Congrats to Eddie Warman, 10 years, he shot a buck. To Payson Ripley, age 7 years, his first buck, 8 points and 140 lbs. Macy St. Clair got an 8-point buck as well.

Santa and Mrs. Claus coming soon

The Knox Boosters Club will host Santa and Mrs. Claus on Friday, Dec. 2, 4:30-7 p.m.  at the Town Office. Christmas tree lighting, music, food, hot cocoa, and bonfire. Plan to bring the kids.

Montville Historical Society

Annual Open House Sunday, Dec. 4, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Kingdom School museum. Light refreshments. Wreath sales, and Historical 2023 calendars. To pre-order a wreath, contact Barbara Bouley at 589-4414 or email hogback1@fairpoint.net. The Montville Grange Bazaar is the same day. For those asking, no, the CD is not ready.

BUM League basketball

Festival of Trees

At the Unity Community Center Dec. 1-4, Thursday 3-7 p.m., Friday and Saturday 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Also on Dec. 4, 3-7 p.m., is shopping, activities for kids, caroling, visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Corner of Depot and Main streets. Ends with a parade as well.

Honor Flight of Maine recently raised $175,282 at the telethon for the veterans to go see their memorials. Thanks to Joy Asuncion for reporting this.

Craft Fair

Event to support Mount View High School’s 33rd  annual Project Graduation Saturday, Dec. 3, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sale, raffle baskets, food, and over 100 crafters. Something for everyone. Lunch and Santa pictures available.

Holiday Market

At The Lost Kitchen in Freedom. Nov. 25-Dec. 23, Fridays and Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Special Holiday Drop on Nov. 25, 10 a.m. Opening the entire mill, and the second floor.

To Erin, Renee Lord has a sweater your grandmother knit for her grandmother with a race horse her gram owned. She’d like to have a chance to give it to you, she said.

Newborn

Congrats to Noah and Mykayla Schartner on the birth of their son, Easton John. He was born Nov. 12 weighing 7 lbs. 9 oz. and 20 inches long.

Sympathy

Sympathy to our first selectman, Galen Larrabee and family on the loss of his wife, Gertrude Larrabee Nov. 10. Thinking of all.

Last Rabies Clinic for 2022

Waldo Humane Society is hosting a Rabies Clinic on Saturday, Dec. 10, 9-11 a.m. at Lincolnville Fire Station on Camden Road. Dogs on leash, cats in carrier. Bring proof of previous rabies vaccination for a three-year shot.

Yes. I won the 270 Savage Rifle at the American Legion raffle in Unity. Thanks to all who made this possible.

Post 43 Belfast

Thanks for the Thanksgiving dinner Sunday for veterans and guests. Lonnie Perkins went and I as well. Was nice seeing old friends. Thanks, Shannon, for the visit.

Mount View Alumni Recognition

The personal and professional accomplishments of previous Mount View graduates will encourage present-day students to reach for the stars!  Nomination forms for the 2023 Alumni Recognition Award are due at the Mount View High School office no later than Jan. 6, 2023. Memories remind us that nothing lasts forever. You could be happy today and sad tomorrow. Time is precious and should not be wasted. Enjoy life and remember. Don’t count your days, make your days count.
