Hello Monroe!

The final month of 2022 is upon us. Is it just me, or did that happen fast? It feels like just yesterday I was watching the boys play barefoot in the warm garden dirt, and now I’m telling Oliver he needs to leave his shoes on while outside … and following Nolan about as he is now officially up and cruising on two feet!

Worth celebrating

Happy birthday to the following celebrating this month: Erick Aitken (3rd), Neva Moody (4th), Chuck Hill (13th), Kassandra Shute (18th), and Debbie Moody (29th).

A very special happy wedding anniversary wish goes out to Ray and Cindy Moody, celebrating together on Dec. 21. I still think of Cindy describing to me the purple velvet hand muffs and the little bit of snow on the day she and Ray wed, and it brings a smile to my face.

Holiday gathering: Monroe style

Please remember that you, your friends and neighbors are invited to the Monroe Town Hall on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 4 to 6 p.m., for Holiday Gathering: Monroe Style.

Coordinated by Friends of Gesner Park, this event is free and plans include the opportunity to eat cookies and other baked goods, create and drink a custom hot chocolate from the hot chocolate bar put on by the Monroe Country Store, play dreidel, take a photograph with Santa, see the tree donated by the McGrath’s of Monroe lit at 5 p.m., and maybe more!

Art show and sale

“Ms. Kelly” Desrosiers, former Regional School Unit 3 art teacher, invites all to attend her art show and sale being hosted for the month of December at the Unity Public Library. The exhibit includes her Comfort series of paintings of cabins, with glowing hearth interiors and starry nighttime scenes with windows cozy and aglow. Also included are local landscape scenes and colorful watercolor abstractions. All paintings are priced affordably for holiday giving.

The Unity Library is open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Have a great week!
