Unity Public Library is hosting an art show and sale of Kelly Desrosiers’ paintings throughout the months of November and December. “Ms. Kelly” Desrosiers was an art teacher for Regional School Unit 3 for many years.

The exhibit includes her Comfort series of paintings of cabins, with both glowing hearth interiors and starry sky nighttime scenes with windows cozy and aglow. Also included are local landscape scenes and colorful watercolor abstractions in the Children’s Room. All are priced affordably for holiday giving.

The Unity Library’s hours are Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.,  with the exception of Tuesday, open later until 6 p.m.

Kelly was my sixth grade art teacher. I enjoyed catching up with her when she contacted me about promoting her exhibit in my column.

The Unity Regional Recycling Center recently beat their single day record, serving 81 customers on Nov. 19, and only missing their single week record by 3, serving 211 people. When I asked them what is driving their increased patronage, they said they are seeing increased customers “across the board” of all eight member towns, and have a dedicated non-resident patronage.

The Freedom Community Development Advisory Committee is still looking for one more member. The Charter Commission recently welcomed a new member, Alexis Bennett. Like me, Alexis grew up in Freedom, left for a little bit, but is now back. The committee enthusiastically welcomed her.

I hope everyone had a festive Thanksgiving!
