Happy December, Waldo! Here we are in the last month of the year. As we close out the year I’d love to be able to share some Waldo highlights in the column over the next few weeks.

Do you have a local business? What were some of the high points? What were your children’s big accomplishments? Did you take any trips of a lifetime, or have any unexpected (or much tried for) garden successes? Did you move to Waldo this year? What has it been like for you? What do you think we, as a town, should be thinking about in the year to come?

Please email me at the address above and let me know. I’d love to share, and I know others are curious, too!

The dirt road here on this side of town was sort of graded this week. The road was wet when it was done, it seems like maybe it was a rushed job, and there are still plenty of potholes and wash board. I’m not sure if it was a new contractor, but it certainly isn’t up to the normal standards. It could be hard going into the winter with it not properly graded (and frustrating that we spend lots of money on this…), especially with more rain coming so soon after.

I hope you enjoy the festive season ahead, however and regardless of what you celebrate. Warm food, gathering with others, a fire in the wood stove, and a spirit of gratitude are good ways to welcome in the cold, darker season.
