Another snowstorm that disappeared before this afternoon with the promise of a big storm this weekend. Please take care driving and arrive safe to your destination.

My sister-in-law Pat Herbest and her grandson Cliff of Evergreen, Alabama, arrived in Swanville today as Pat’s daughter-in-law passed away this past week. Roberta’s service will be held this spring but she wanted to be with her son Dana for support. They plan to return Saturday or Sunday. Hope the weather will allow them to leave on time.

I want to send my condolences to Jeff Davis of Stockton on the sudden death of his son this week. May good memories and God help him through this sad time.

We lost another member of Prospect this week, Neil Cunningham. He was a nice man, was a paratrooper in the service, also we worked together at the paper mill. Neil had been in declining health these past two years. May he now RIP.

My grandson, Adam Sutherland of Verona, was injured in an accident yesterday. He was working on installing gutters when he fell 8 feet and broke both heels. The doctor cannot operate on his heels until the swelling goes down and then he will have a long recuperation after they operate. Just hope that there will be no other injuryies involved but won’t know until swelling goes down. I’m praying for him.

I have 14 more cards to get out tomorrow and then I’m done. If I missed someone, I apologize but do wish you all a very Merry Christmas and wish our Savior Jesus Christ a happy birthday.

Sorry this is such a sad column this week but more sorry for the families’ grief. This will cause them much heartache every year during this time, believe me, I know.

One good thing tonight is the fact that I’m going to fry me up some smelts. This time of year I get a hankering for them. No idea where these came from as there is no ice around here but bet they will taste good.

All rested up from my weekend spent with daughter Rosemarie when she took me to Oxford for my Christmas present. I shouldn’t have been tired as she pushed me around in a wheelchair and did all the lugging and watching over me. Had a good time. Lost $25 in all.

Wishing you all a safe and merry Christmas and a happy New Year and remember what Christmas is about.

Until next week,

Barbara
