What a storm! Many thanks to Freedom’s Public Works Department for their care of our roads over the past couple of weeks. I was surprised to learn that not everyone in town lost power. Up on Beaver Ridge the windows howled through the trees so loudly, and combined with obvious cracking and shearing sounds from trees coming down in the woods, that I had to yell to my dad as we desperately tried to steer water away from flooding into my basement. Thankfully, the water never got farther than a few inches or so into the basement.

The massive amount of rain did lead to ideal skating conditions on my backyard farm pond. Too bad the weather has been a little warmer than usual for this time of year and that pristine surface might turn to slush.

We did lose power for about half a day when a tree fell across the road and cut a power line. To our great surprise CMP had the road cleared and line repaired within a few hours of it happening. Well done, CMP. One of my first divorce clients was a CMP lineworker. I learned much about his job during the course of representing him. They have a hard, dangerous job and deserve to be recognized for their diligent work.
