SEARSPORT — On Thursday, Jan. 26, at 6 p.m. on Zoom, Penobscot Marine Museum kicks off its Fog & Ice Speaker Series with “Mainers on the Titanic” with author Mac Smith. The presentation will focus on Maine’s connection to the famous ship that struck an iceberg and went down. The talk is free, with a suggested fee of $5. Registration is required.
Smith meticulously researched the topic of Maine’s connection to the Titanic for his book, and will share some of the stories he discovered. Smith resides in Stockton Springs and is a Navy veteran of the First Gulf War, a former reporter for the Bar Harbor Times and the author of five books.
The speaker series continues with “Fog Along the Maine Coast” with meteorologist Mike Clair Feb. 2, and “Fog in the Penobscot Marine Museum Photo Archives” with photo archivist Kevin Johnson Feb. 9.
