    Police: Man who allegedly lured child away from pool won't be charged

    Police have identified and interviewed the man who allegedly was attempting to lure children away from the pool at Belfast City Park on Aug. 14. Belfast Police Chief Mike McFadden said police received a tip the afternoon of Aug. 18 and were able to identify the man who was on vacation in Maine.     Police arrest Belfast woman in connection with cemetery thefts

    Police charged a Belfast woman with theft following an incident at Grove Cemetery over the weekend after receiving an anonymous tip.     Police arrested a Belfast man Friday evening, Aug. 29, after several instances of disorderly conduct, Belfast Police Chief Michael McFadden said.     The town of Belmont celebrated its 200th year last weekend and opened the festivities with the dedication of a new veterans memorial at the town office.     Off-duty firefighters help save garage from fire with garden hose

    A garage on Route 3 in Belmont caught fire during the evening of Aug. 20 and was saved by the quick actions of two off-duty firefighters who happened to be passing by.
