Maine AllCare announces series of legislative meetings

Jan 29, 2019

Maine AllCare, an advocacy group pressing for publicly funded health care for all, has announced a series of meetings with state legislators about prospects for health care legislation in 2019.

“The people of Maine sent a clear message in November that health care is the No. 1 issue on their minds, and our elected leaders seem to be responding,” said Phil Bailey, Maine AllCare’s executive director. "Now the real work of crafting solid policy that saves money and provides primary care for all begins."

In the Midcoast, Maine AllCare has scheduled the following sessions in Belfast and Rockland next month, and the public is welcome to attend:

- Waldo County Chapter, Thursday, Feb. 14, 6:30 p.m., Belfast Free Library: Sen. Erin Herbig, Geoff Gratwick, and Reps. Jan Dodge, Scott Cuddy and S. Paige Ziegler, will attend. Other area representatives and the public are invited.

- Rockland Area Chapter, Thursday, Feb 28, 6 p.m., Rockland UU Church: Sen. David Miramant and Reps. Pinny-Beebe Center, Bill Pluecker and Vicki Doudera will attend. Other area representatives and the public are invited.

Maine AllCare promotes the establishment of publicly funded health care coverage for all Maine residents. This system must be efficient, financially sound, politically sustainable and must provide benefits fairly distributed to all.
