Town Office

We’re not as creative as the Lebanon Fire Chief (Help Wanted. Odd Hours. Low Pay. Sweet Helmet.), but the facts are the same: It is hard to find people to staff Fire and Ambulance crews. Searsmont Fire and Rescue is looking for firefighters and first responders/EMTs.

If you are interested in joining or have questions, please call the Town Office to leave your name and telephone number. We will have the Fire or Rescue chief contact you. Training is available; no experience required.

The selectmen are working on the budget in preparation for town meeting. The town budget meeting where the selectmen present the proposed budget to the residents is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. in the Searsmont Community Building meeting room.

The Town Office has several archival quality storage boxes available for purchase on a first-come, first-served basis to residents. The sizes vary: 11.5 to 19 inches wide by 15 to 25 inches long by 2.5 to 5 inches deep. These are acid-free sturdy boxes for $5 each. Stop in at the Town Office to see them, or call to check if we have the size you need.

Searsmont Town Library

Throughout the month of February, the Searsmont Town Library is featuring music listening that celebrates African-American culture, particularly legendary jazz and blues recordings. Stop by and take in the sounds of Miles Davis, Nat King Cole, Lester Young, and many more.

The likes of Taj Mahal or Sarah Vaughan might provide the ambiance for Board Game Night on Thursday at 4 p.m., or maybe you'll just sit and flip through some books to the reverberations of "A Love Supreme."
