Prospect pole vaulter Bradley among New England's elite

By Staff | Feb 26, 2019

Cambridge, Mass. — Fifteen members of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute men’s track-and-field team earned All-New England Division III accolades at the New England Division III championships on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 22-23 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) — one of who was a Waldo County native — and all of whom were paramount to the team’s topnotch finish.

Johann Bradley of Prospect, a sophomore at WPI, finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 14 feet and eight inches, to earn the distinction.

The Engineers finished third at the New Englands with 67 points, while MIT finished first with a whopping 164 points and Tufts University second with 78.

Bradley, a 2017 Hampden Academy graduate, also broke the league record in the Penobscot Valley Conference/Eastern Maine Indoor Track League for the Broncos with a height of 14 feet and 3 ¼ inches as a senior.
