Rep. Seth Berry proposes a consumer-owned utility to replace CMP

Rockland — Bowdoinham Democratic State Rep. Seth Berry visited our studio April 22 to talk about his proposal to create a consumer-owned utility to replace CMP and Emera Maine.

He argues this move would increase the reliability of the system and could lower rates.

Berry has been working on a bill to create the Maine Power Delivery Authority, which would be a consumer-owned utility, replacing CMP and Emera Maine, run by a board of directors nominated by the governor.
