2019 Cobe Scholarships Total $60,000

Ellsworth — The Maine Community Foundation has announced $60,000 in awards from the Ira M. Cobe Scholarship Fund program for college students, which supports Waldo County students, under the age of 23, who are pursuing post-secondary education.

The 24 students from across Waldo County will be attending mainly New England schools, including Emerson College, Husson University, University of Maine, Thomas College, Brandeis University, Maine Maritime Academy, Wheaton College and Eastern Maine Community College.

Chicago financier Ira M. Cobe was a longtime summer resident of Bayside in Northport.

The deadline for the next round of scholarships is May 1, 2020. Application and guidelines are available at mainecf.org.
