ICS announces new counselor

Lindsay Dakers

Islesboro — Islesboro Central School has hired Lindsay Dakers as its middle school and high school counselor.

Dakers’ background is in career and technical education, alternative education, and the coordination of middle and high school career and college readiness programs for rural Maine schools. Most recently she served as the multiple pathways coordinator for Mount Abram Regional High School in Franklin County.

A native of Vermont, Dakers has lived in the mountains of Western Maine for the last 10 years. She has a degree in culinary arts from the Culinary Institute of America, a Bachelor of Arts degree in natural science from Northern Vermont University, and a Master of Science degree in school counseling from Gwynedd Mercy University.

Her education and training in school counseling are based on the American School Counselor Association’s National Model.

Dakers and her family plan to relocate to the Midcoast.
