Hello to All,

It has started to get cooler out there, and the overnight temps drop way down now. Brrrr! Trying to get ready for winter; as bad as I hate to admit it, it is that time of year. Hope everyone is preparing as well, since not all of us by far are snow birds. They can have Florida, or Arizona. I shall shovel some snow. Happy right here.

Belated birthday

Happy belated birthday to grandson Kayden Doughty who had a birthday on Oct. 3! May you have many more. Love you.

How about mailing a birthday card to Kent Breau who had his 60th birthday recently? c/o Bella Point,  51 Mechanic St., Camden, ME 04843. I am sure he'd love to have a card from you. Thanks!

Open house in Troy

The Troy Union Church will be having an open house on Saturday, Oct. 12, 1 to 4 p.m. Afterwards there will be a spaghetti supper by the Troy Fire Department and Auxiliary, 4 to 6 p.m., at the Troy Fire Department. Adults $3 and children 10-16 $1.50. Family of five, $10. A crocheted afghan of "Go Patriots" raffle. That is a very reasonable meal price, let's support the cause.

Music in Thorndike

Music at the infamous "Dented Can" railroad car. Ukulele music by Russ Copelin from Alaska, who is well known. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 7 p.m., $10 donation. Info 568-3253. Bonfire and hot chocolate. I am told you don't want to miss this event.

Get well

Thinking of little Chance Cunningham who has been in Portland hospital again and will be going off to Boston on Wednesday. He has been having trouble and on steroids and other meds. He has GVHD (graft versus host disease) and this is a condition that occurs when the donor bone marrow or stem cells attack the recipient, which is his case. I hope he starts to get better from this.

His little baby brother Sawyer will be having his pending transplant on Oct. 21 to start his treatment. Keep these two little brothers in your prayers. Two little ones sick is a lot of work for the parents, Jeremy and Lacey. Thinking of all of them. Get well soon.

In Maine Veterans Home

Larry Dearborn, past American Legion Department commander, is now at the Veterans Home in Augusta. He is in Charlie Company, room 15.

100th birthday

Hoping to see many attend the birthday celebration for Roy Ward on Saturday, Oct. 26, 1 p.m. at the Freedom Grange Hall. Info and to RSVP: Jessica at 992-8143.

Until next week,

Enjoy these days this fall. The leaves were getting blown off my ash trees in the yard Friday in the wind. Soon to be bare of all leaves. Colors are pretty though. Go get some fresh-picked apples or pick your own, and some sweet cider. Time for apple pie. Stay warm and be safe. Darn, no more excuses: I must make a pie.
