Weather Brief Oct 17, 2019

Midcoast Forecast - October 17, 2019 PM

Thursday has been turbulent for the Midcoast as a powerful fall nor'easter moved into the region. This brought heavy rain and strong winds Thursday morning with gust ranging between 40mph to 70mph across the Midcoast. This resulted in downed limbs and trees, sunk and beached boats, and numerous power outages. Rainfall totals mainly ranged between 1" to 2" with locally higher amounts. The storm will gradually move to the east along the Maine coast through late Thursday then through Nova Scotia Friday before exiting into the north Atlantic into the weekend. This will leave cloudy skies and gusty northwest winds through Friday for Maine and New England with sustained winds of 10-15mph with gust around 20mph. High pressure will build in for the weekend that will bring sunny skies and light winds. We'll see sunshine continue for Monday with a slight warm up followed by a round of rain on Tuesday.
