Rockport — The Midcoast Recreation Center hosted its annual “New Year’s Open” tennis tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Jan 4-5.

It was a United States Tennis Association event, which typically sees strong draws from local players and those from Maine and New England.

“We really look forward to this event,” said Seth Meyer, MRC tennis director. “It’s always a great way to ring in the new year.”

The following are the results of the tournament:

Men’s open singles — Chris Kemp of Tenants Harbor beat Ezra Lemole of Rockland, 6-4, 6-3, in the championship final.

Women’s open singles — Mollie Guba of Newburyport, Mass. beat Caitlin Cass of Newcastle, 6-1, 4-6, 6-1, in the championship final.
