Weather Brief Jan 23, 2020

Midcoast Forecast - January 23, 2020 PM

Thursday has had a feel of spring as temperatures reached the upper 30s to low 40s under mostly sunny skies. We'll see highs again above freezing on Friday in the mid to upper 30s as high pressure remains in place over the region. Clouds will increase late Friday and stay cloudy for Saturday as high pressure moves out to the northeast and low pressure tracks in from the west. The low will move into New England Saturday night and into Sunday pushing in a round of rain and winter mix to the state. Temperatures for much of the Midcoast will hold above freezing during this period leading to a mainly rain event with sleet and snow possible across northern Maine and the western Maine mountains. The bulk of the rain will fall Saturday night with clearing Sunday morning. We could see another round of light rain with snow inland as the storm begins to clear out to the east. We'll see gradually decreasing clouds during the early week with highs remaining above normal, in the mid to upper 30s.
