Fire destroys Belmont home; barn saved

Belmont — Fire destroyed a home being remodeled at 507 Back Belmont Road late Thursday evening, Feb. 20. Firefighters managed to save the large attached barn.

Responders received the call at 11 p.m. from a neighbor and were on scene 10 minutes later, according to Belmont Fire Chief Ron Harford. Fire departments from Morrill, Searsmont, Belfast and Lincolnville assisted with the call.

There were no injuries reported and and Harford said the cause is still undetermined. The Maine State Fire Marshal's office is investigating, but was not immediately available for comment.
