Health liaison volunteer to help with COVID-19 questions in Islesboro

Jul 20, 2020
Jane Wherren is the new Health Liaison volunteer in Islesboro.

Islesboro — The town of Islesboro has been awarded a Municipal COVID-19 Awareness grant to educate and help protect residents against COVID-19.

Jane Wherren has volunteered to act as the town’s Health Liaison and to advise and advocate for organizations and businesses during the COVID-19 threat. She will be contacting island organizations and businesses to answer questions and help with COVID-19-related public health issues and concerns.

Wherren will answer questions regarding the current guidelines from Maine CDC and the Governor’s Office and gather information from businesses and organization about their challenges in creating and maintaining a healthy environment for customers and employees, and about the resources they need to maintain a healthy community environment — including volunteers to help manage occupancy during busy hours. Wherren will help participants determine what to say or do in the event customers refuse to wear a mask or social distance and will also problem-solve issues related to potential COVID-19 public health violations.
