Liberty — A three car crash on Route 3 near Bolin Hill Ext. and Lake St. George State Park sent several people to the hospital Sunday.

According to Waldo County Sheriff's Department, at approximately noon July 19, Lynette Bassett, 51, driving a 2017 Toyota Sienna with passenger Lauren Willard, 14, of Freeport, was turning left into Wild Grace Farm Store and was hit from behind by Alexis Porter, 20, of Belfast, driving a Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Bassett's car was pushed into oncoming traffic, hitting a third vehicle — a 2002 Audi A4 driven by Chelsea Dimmitt, 29, of Montville, along with three passengers; Michael Gagne 33, of Searsmont, Alexis Libby, 12, and Emma Dimmitt, 8.

The Sheriff's Office said Porter sustained a broken wrist, Willard a concussion, Chelsea Dimmitt a possible broken arm and Gagne exhibited leg pain. All involved parties were taken to the hospital, police said.

The road was closed for several hours, according to a Waldo County Fire and EMS Facebook post, eventually reopening at approximately 3:23 p.m.

According to police, the incident is still under investigation.
