Belfast — Driver error resulted in damage to the Seaport Community Health Center building on Schoodic Drive April 20.

According to Sgt. Lewis Dyer IV of the Belfast Police Department, a 71-year-old female was parking her car at the health clinic in the early afternoon Tuesday when she mistook the gas pedal for the brake. The vehicle lunged forward, striking the wall of the building and causing minor damage to the exterior.

The woman, whose name has not been released, declined medical attention and was released. The car was towed with front-end damage. "The hood curled in," Dyer said.

The incident was not caused by a medical issue and no charges were issued, according to Dyer.
