Born and raised on the island of Islesboro, some 2 ½ miles from the mainland, I grew up exposed to the complexities and isolation of island living. For those who do not know our island community, it is located in Penobscot Bay, a twenty-minute ferry ride from Lincolnville Beach in one of the premier boating areas on the Atlantic coast. My family owned a large General Store there, which I bought and operated for many years and experienced meeting people of varying backgrounds and personalities.
I graduated from the University of Maine and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, prior to serving in the US Army, and became a licensed Broker in 1961.
