Belfast — With the Regional School Unit 71 Central Office and Belfast Adult Education now housed inside Belfast Area High School, their former home at the corner of Waldo Avenue and Lions Way is no more. It was torn down this week.

The offices moved in August from 6A Lions Way to the high school's new math and special education wing, following completion of a $7.6-million construction project that began in 2017.

Officially opened with a ribbon-cutting and celebration Aug. 26, the project included the wing, which adds special ed classrooms and consolidates formerly scattered math classrooms, as well as renovations to the kitchen, cafeteria, lobby, restrooms, canopy and entrance, pool, locker rooms and a home economics room.
