7th-graders to present greenhouse effect slide show Dec. 5

Nov 21, 2019

Belfast — Troy Howard Middle School seventh-graders will present an educational slide show, “What is greenhouse effect? The story of how greenhouse gases cause climate change,” Thursday, Dec. 5, at 6 p.m. in the Belfast Free Library's Abbott Room, 106 High St.

Reilly Newton, Benjamin Allen and Van Brown are working on taking action with their learning beyond the classroom. They have created a slide show to explain the greenhouse effect and climate change to a younger audience. The Belfast Area Chapter of Citizens Climate Lobby is sponsoring their presentation.

The presentation and meeting are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Citizens Climate Lobby advocates for a revenue neutral carbon fee and dividend policy that uses market forces to transition away from a carbon-based economy. The chapter's monthly meeting, immediately following the student presentation, will include a report on recent meetings between Maine volunteers and our congressional delegation to discuss HR 763, the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act.
