Belfast — Randall Collins Post 3108, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will lead the annual 9-11 Bridge Walk Wednesday morning in memory of the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, and of the passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93.

An opening ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Veterans Memorial Bridge (Route 1) with the VFW color guard, a 21-gun salute and the playing of "Taps."

Following the ceremony, participants will step off at 8:46 a.m., when the first plane hit the World Trade Center in 2001.

Participants include Patriot Riders Motorcycle Club, Faith Temple Church, Bank of America, Belfast Lions Club, Sen. Erin Herbig, and others. The public is welcome.

The event starts at 8:30, NOT 9:30.  That was a misprint by the paper.
