A Matter of Balance program seeks coaches

Jun 07, 2019

Rockport — Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital are looking for volunteers for the “A Matter of Balance” program. The program is designed to help people manage concerns about falls and increase physical activity. There will be a free two-day “A Matter of Balance” coach training Wednesday, July 17 and Thursday, July 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Picker Family Resource Center, 756 Commercial St., Rockport

A Matter of Balance: Managing Concerns About Falls is conducted in eight two-hour sessions and uses group discussion, problem–solving strategies, videos and gentle physical exercise. Coaches need good communication and interpersonal skills, enthusiasm, dependability and a willingness to lead small groups of older adults. Coaches also need to be able to lead low to moderate level exercise.

For more information, or to request a coach application, contact Megan Day at 301-3956 or mday@pbmc.org by Tuesday, June 18.
