The Adult Forum education and discussion program at St. Peter’s will continue its study of issues effecting lives of people in Israel and Palestine. Parishioner Jim Bowditch will be sharing insights he gained from his recent trip to Israel and Palestine.

On the 12th, at 9:15 to 10:15 am, he will explain the ministries supported by the Episcopal Church in the U.S. and the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, both parts of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

The final program on the 26th of February will include a discussion of geo-political issues. Jim will have a slide show and print materials to augment the presentations. The focus on February 5th was religious sites and locations. Although each week’s topic is related, they stand alone in providing information about the overall topic.

The Lenten Program this year, beginning Wednesday, February 29th, will be a joint endeavor with St. Peter’s and St. John Baptist in Thomaston. The program is entitled Steadfast Hope: the Palestinian Quest for Just Peace. This is a program sponsored by the Episcopal Peace Fellowship. The Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Maine, Stephen Lane, has encouraged each Parish in the Diocese to consider offering this program for Lenten study.

St. Peter’s will host this program on Wednesday nights for five weeks at St. Peter’s, beginning on February 29th at 5:30pm. Each evening will begin with a simple soup and bread dinner, followed by a short DVD presentation and discussion.

Workbooks are available for $5.00 and can be ordered at St. Peter’s. You are not required to have a workbook to participate, but it can be helpful. More information will be published prior to February 29th.

The Sunday Forum meets in the Parlor and coffee is available in the Parish Hall. We hope you can join us to grow in your faith in 2012!

St. Peter’s has two Sunday services: 8 am Holy Eucharist—Rite 1 and 10:30 am Holy Eucharist—Rite 2. The Children’s Sunday School meets in the church Undercroft at 10:30 am. All are welcome at the activities and worship at St. Peter’s.
