Advent music programs in Lincolnville

Lincolnville — The United Christian Church) invites the public to take in Music and Reflection for the Season of Advent Sundays at 4 p.m., Dec. 3 through 17.  The church is located at 18 Searsmont Road/Route 173 in Lincolnville Center.

The 50-minute programs will include seasonal music, selected readings and moments of silent reflection and will be led by the Rev. Richard Hanks, UCC Bridge Minister. The first Sunday of Advent, Dec. 3, will feature the premiere performance by student organist Ina Wolovitz from Lincolnville. Wolovitz has been studying with Matthew Mainster, principal organist at Camden First Congregational Church, on a scholarship provided by the United Christian Church.

On Dec. 10, the series will present the Mill Street Songsters; on Dec. 17, with the Mount View High School Chamber Singers will perform Carols in the Round. The fourth Sunday of Advent is also Christmas Eve. The public is invited to join the UCC congregation for the 4 p.m. for a Family Christmas Eve Candle Light Service.

The United Christian Church was built as the town's meeting house in 1821. It has the original boxed pews, upper pulpit, gallery and 12-over -2 windows; and is one of the few Maine historic meetinghouses in year-round use.
