Airport Open House & Fly In set for Sept. 16

Belfast — Belfast Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), Chapter 1434, is sponsoring its annual Belfast Airport Open House & Fly In Saturday, Sept. 16, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (rain date is Sunday, Sept. 17).

Admission is free and all are welcome. The day's events begin with breakfast from 7:30 to 10 a.m. and include helicopter rides, live music by "Little Rodeo," food trucks all day, and:

  • Variety of aircraft arriving from throughout the U.S.
  • Home-built aircraft judging and awards
  • Learn about “How to become a pilot” and “How to build your own plane”
  • Free Young Eagle flights for kids 8 - 17

Various aviation public service organizations that serve the community from the Belfast airport will have displays at the event, including Pilots N Paws, Patient Airlift Services, Katahdin Wing/99’s, local flight school, Aviation Career Education (ACE) Camp, LifeFlight of Maine, Angel Flight NE, Down East Emergency Medical Institute (DEEMI), Search and Rescue, Waldo County Emergency Management Mobile Communications, Waldo County SAR, Maine Aeronautics Association, Maine Forest Service helicopter, and athenahealth.
