SEARSMONT — The Ale House String Band plays a concert at the Searsmont Town Library, Main St., on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m.

The band was formed in, and caused by, the artistic whirlpool that is the town of Waldoboro. The trio is made up of Oren Robinson, a classically-trained vocalist and guitarist; Brian Dunn, a wandering soul who picked up music and the mandolin along the way; and April Reed-Cox, a classical cellist active with a variety of artists, ensembles and orchestras in the area.

Their second full-length album is filled with deeply lyrical original songs, but the trio also has traditional roots and they have an uncanny ability to improvise music on the spot.
