The CORE: Concepts of Wooden Boatbuilding program is a 9-month program offered by The Apprenticeshop. Here, students new to boatbuilding learn the fundamental skills necessary to build traditional wooden craft including, tool use, maintenance, lofting, joinery and finishing techniques. This certificate program qualifies graduating students for entry level positions in boat yards and boatbuilding shops.

The ADVANCED: New Construction and Restoration program is a second 9-month program designed to build upon the skills gained through CORE.  IN ADVANCED, students have the opportunity to work as apprentices under a master boatbuilder on commissioned or custom boat builds. ADVANCED students continue to hone their skills in traditional wooden boatbuilding, assist in managing AShop boats, assist CORE students and teach workshops. ADVANCED students learn how to balance resources, time and materials and the nuances of client relationships. ADVANCED graduates come away prepared for mid-level positions in at boat yards or boatbuilding shops.
