AR Girls free summer program goes virtual

Jun 27, 2020

Augusta — Got creativity?

Join AR Girls Virtual Workshop this summer, and use your creativity to produce your own augmented reality (AR) experiences to make your community aware of how to reduce waste — like food waste, fashion waste, and plastic waste.

In the free AR Girls Virtual Workshop, you will learn to use a cool AR app to overlay graphics, videos, audio, even your own art, onto the real world. You’ll even get to play-test your AR experiences with other girls around Maine. No previous experience is required. Throughout you will be supported by our experienced team, which includes art educators at Waterfall Arts in Belfast, Wintergreen Art Center, and Fiddlehead Art and Science Center.

Applications are on a first-come, first-served basis. A wait list will be created should spots fill up. For more information and to register, visit https://mmsa.org/projects/ar-girls. Weekly sessions begin Monday, July 6.

AR Girls is supported by a National Science Foundation grant, and is a collaboration among the Maine Math and Science Alliance, the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, Harvard University, Oregon State University, and University of Wisconsin Madison. It is free to all participating girls.
